Starting nursery with confidence
Every family experiences the start of nursery differently. Some children are ready to explore straight away; others need more time and reassurance. We take a gentle, individual approach so that your child can build trust at a pace that feels right for them.
Before your child starts, we ask you to complete dietary and All About Me forms so we can understand their routines, interests, comfort items and individual needs. At the first settling-in session, you stay with your child and meet their key person. At the second, your child stays independently for an hour. We discuss an additional session if it would help them settle.
A partnership from day one
Settling in works best when we work together. We will agree an approach with you, keep you informed and adapt where your child needs more time. Our aim is not simply for children to manage the separation, but for them to begin to feel that Eden is a safe and happy place to be.
As your child grows
Moving rooms is another important transition. We support each move thoughtfully, helping children become familiar with their new space, routines and practitioners so that the next stage feels like an exciting step forward.
A day at Eden
No two days are exactly the same, because children’s interests and the seasons are always changing. What stays consistent is the care, rhythm and attention we give your child.
Your child’s day can include a welcoming arrival, child-led play, focused activities, time outdoors, meals and snacks, rest where needed, stories, songs and time with friends. For older children, there may also be a trip, an activity in one of our specialist spaces or time at the allotment.
Routines that feel reassuring
Children thrive when they know what to expect. Our daily rhythm provides familiarity while leaving plenty of room for spontaneous play, questions and discoveries. For babies, we work closely with families to follow individual sleep, feeding and comfort routines.
Keeping you close to the day
Through Famly, we share regular updates, including photos, activities and observations. It is a simple way for you to see what your child has been doing and to feel connected to their learning, even when you are not there.
Working together
The conversations at drop-off and collection matter too. Our team is always keen to hear about the things that may affect your child’s day, and to share the small moments and milestones that make nursery life special.
Your child as an individual
Tell us about the routines, interests and support that matter to your child. If your child has additional needs, please talk to us before they start so that we can discuss how we can support them together.
Growing towards school
As children grow, stories, early language, number play, creative activities and everyday responsibilities build confidence and independence. Our preschool team supports this next step through play and close conversations with families.
